GOMB's newest section, Strategic Management, was created in partnership with the Utah Policy Partnership. This mission of the section is to facilitate the continuous improvement of state governmental performance. This is done by researching and implementing best practices in strategic collaboration, performance management, training, and enterprise innovation.

The Management section will accomplish its mission by:
- Assisting in the development of agency strategic plans, facilitating the incorporation of strategy into operational budgets.
- Assisting the State Planning Coordinator in the identification and analysis of emerging issues and strategies.
- Developing an analytical framework for performance management that promotes alignment of agency operations as well as strategic initiaitves.
- Coordinating the performance-related initiatives of other agencies through strategic communications and sharing of best practices.
